The word from La Founder: I had the pleasure to meet Mr Katz a couple of times. He is one of these persons who immediately inspire you admiration, respect and make you drawn to his personality and kindness. For me, Pierre is a true artist: his work, sensitivity, vision and wisdom make you want to listen to his stories and find opportunities to work with him. It was a great honor for me to have his interview featured amongst the Makers Stories, the word “Maker” resonates with accuracy and strength more than ever.

An anecdote you would like to share:
Drawing Sonia Rykiel’s logo a longtime ago. My encounter with the designer was very amusing, because at each meeting, I was told « Mademoiselle Rykiel is expecting you ». So I stepped into an empty room, and then suddenly she would magically appear from behind a door or a folding screen where she was hiding. She wanted a brand that would be her anchor, a name that would be solid and would last. When she saw the final drawing, she exclaimed : « It is beautiful. It looks like Hebrew ».
A special person/encounter, or a mentor/partner:
The designer Herb Lubalin, whom I have met through his associate Aaron Burns in New York. He gave me the drive to work on typography. He highlighted the concept of word-image, Expressive Typography. A friend of mine actually made a caricature of me wearing a « I Love Herb Lubalin » t-shirt.
